Free People Embroidered Dress

I actually saw this dress in the Free People store that just opened up in town. I immediately knew I had to have it for my upcoming trip to Florida. I’m so glad I made that purchase because it’s quickly become one of my favorite dresses!

Let me tell you why you need this dress. One – it has POCKETS. That’s always a game changer for me. If a dress has pockets I’m 99% more likely to buy it. Two – the color of the embroidery is so fun and bright and perfect for Spring and Summer. Three – it’s SO comfortable and easy to wear. You literally just put it on and that’s that. I feel like it’s perfect to throw on after the beach or if you’re going out at night! Four – Off the shoulder dresses and tops are very trendy right now and I feel like this dress is a great option for that trend!

I paired this dress with my Tory Burch flats to keep it a casual look. We attempted to take pictures at the beach, but none of them came out well at all. It was SO windy!!! I think that this dress would also look great with a pair of wedges too!! As for sizing, I’m wearing a size Small and it fit great! I probably could’ve gotten away with an XS but I’m all about comfort. I would say this dress runs TTS!

I hope you guys can get your hands on this dress before it sells out again!!

There ya have it! A look at my Free People embroidered dress!

Sonesta Fort Lauderdale Review

Hi everyone!! Happy Friday! So happy that the weekend is finally here! I am so bummed I couldn’t make it to the Reward Style conference this year but I’m excited to be living vicariously through those bloggers that are going to be there!

Anyways, for today’s post I’m sharing my recap and review of the Sonesta Fort Lauderdale hotel that I recently stayed at with my friends! It’s gonna be a long post so you may want to grab a snack (or maybe even a drink ;-)) I’ll also share some pictures from our trip with outfit details included at the bottom!

Sonesta Fort Lauderdale Review

Day One: So we flew down to Fort Lauderdale early (I mean 6 AM early) on Tuesday morning and we landed in Florida at about 9am. This was perfect for us because we got pretty much the whole day in Florida! We got to the hotel and we were not able to check in yet so we decided to walk (we thought it was going to be a short walk…) to the Westin Hotel down the road to grab Starbucks. It ended up being like a mile long walk so needless to say we decided to take an Uber back to our hotel. Once we got back our room was ready for us to check into. We were so excited about the amazing view that the room had! Our room had two full beds, a big closet, a good bathroom, a chair, and 4 drawers to put our clothes in.

Once we put our stuff away in our room, we went down to the beach. Our hotel is right across from the beach. We did have to cross a very busy road each day to get to the beach but it wasn’t an issue once we had the walk signal. With our room, we were provided 2 chairs and we had to pay $12 for the third chair since there was three of us. We also wanted to get an umbrella one day but it was $20 so we decided not to.

Night One: For our first night in Fort Lauderdale we actually decided to take a trip down to Miami. It was about 40 min away and the Uber cost us about $40. We went to a restaurant called Dolce and then we went to the Clevelander bar afterwards. We headed back to the hotel around 1:30 am and there was no issue getting an Uber back. PS – I slept in the bed with my friend and fit both of us comfortably!!

View from our hotel room was amazing!!

Day Two: On our second day we decided to take an Uber from our hotel to a local Starbucks and to the Publix to buy some snacks and sunscreen. This was the easier option for us (did we really need Starbucks every morning? Yes.) Once we got back to the hotel we’d go back upstairs and change into our bathing suits and head down to the beach. We’d grab towels from the pool area – they didn’t keep track of who took how many towels so we each usually took two. Wednesday wasn’t our best day on the beach – it was super cloudy and rained a few times! We expected this from the weather forecast. We tried to stick it out through the rain but we ended grabbing drinks and lunch at the hotel bar by the pool. Each day I got a strawberry daiquiri and it was delish every time. We got crispy chicken tenders and fries for lunch on this day. After lunch we called it a day in the sun and decided to go up and watch 13 Reasons Why in our hotel room (guilty pleasure!).

Night Two: Wednesday night we went down to Las Olas Boulevard. This is where a TON of restaurants and bars are! We ate at American Social. The food was average but the atmosphere was super cute. The whole area down there was great! It was also ladies night when we went so our drinks were half off which was an added bonus! We weren’t quite ready to call it a night after dinner so we went to McSorley’s which was literally right next to our hotel. This bar was so cute – we loved that there was a jukebox so we could pick what music played! The bartender was so nice, too! If you’re looking for a laid back, casual bar – McSorley’s is it!

My two friends that I went with, Jackie & Matia! Shoutout to them for taking all my blog pics from the trip!!!

Day Three: Thursday morning started off with a photo shoot for my blog – you’ll be seeing all of those pictures and outfits very soon! We decided to take pictures right in front of our hotel because that was easiest. It was SO windy and that made taking these pictures pretty challenging – but we made it work! We tried to get a few on the beach, but that didn’t go over so well (can’t win ‘em all!). After we finished taking pictures we went to Starbucks (yes, we actually went everyday) and then went to the beach for the day. As I mentioned before, we got rained on quite a bit on Wednesday and didn’t end up using the 3rd chair that we paid for. When we go to the beach on Thursday, the guy working told us we didn’t have to pay for a chair since we had to leave the beach early on Wednesday. We thought this was such a nice gesture from him! Thursday’s weather was beautiful and we spent the whole day on the beach.

After leaving the beach we decided to get a quick bite to eat at the hotel pool bar again. This time we got chips and guacamole (one of my many weaknesses) and some truffle fries (not a fan of those!) and we got our usual drinks. I’d have to say that the food they served at the pool bar was great! Both of the bartenders we had were very nice.

Night Three: Thursday night we went down to Las Olas Boulevard again. This was our last night so we wanted to do something fun! We ate dinner at Luigi’s Tuscan Grill. It was SO good and such a cute little spot – we highly recommend this place!

Day Four:
Our last day was a great one! We woke up early to pack and get our stuff ready to leave. We got out to the beach by like 10 AM and stayed out there till the last possible moment. We changed in the hotel bathroom – we kind of took over the place, whoops! We grabbed an Uber from the hotel to the airport. The price to the airport was like $15 and we split it 3 ways – SO reasonable.

Overall we enjoyed our stay at the Sonesta Fort Lauderdale. Here are a few cons that we did find with the hotel, though:
• We weren’t fans of the shower because it only had half of a glass door so every time we got in the shower we ended up cold because of the air from the bathroom!
• The hotel itself was a bit outdated – the headboard was a little bit worn and so were a few other things. We felt as if the hotel could use some updating.
• When we checked in, they overcharged our credit card (charged $300 instead of $150) for the incidentals. We talked to the front desk about it and they said they fixed it (we shall see).
• We were looking to watch Bravo (my friends LOVE the Housewives lol) but the hotel didn’t have that channel!

Dress: Show Me Your Mumu || Sandals: Tory Burch || Sunglasses: Ray Ban || Necklace: Bauble Bar

Hi everyone! Happy Tuesday! In today’s post I’m talking about one of my new favorite dresses! Red is one of my FAVORITE colors to wear – I don’t wear it often because it can be such a vibrant color, but when I do wear it, I love it!

I’ve recently become a big fan of Show Me Your Mumu and I saw this dress on their site and loved it! It’s pretty basic if I do say so myself BUT I’m kind of into that at the moment. I know they have so many other great pieces (I also got this dress!) but the color of this dress really appealed to me. Also there are so many great off the shoulder pieces out right now that I love!

I paired this dress with these Tory Burch sandals but it also would’ve looked good with a pair of wedges, too! In case you’re not a fan of red, this dress comes in a few other colors, too! I really like the white one!

There ya have it! A look at this Red OTS dress! I hope you enjoyed this post!

Spring Break Packing Guide

Spring Break Packing Guide

Hi everyone! Happy Thursday! I’m off to Florida next week so I thought it would be a good idea to share what I’m bringing with me on this trip! I know packing can be SUCH a pain, and that’s why I’m here to help! I’ll try to break it down for you as much as I can!

Clothes

OK let’s start with the obvious: bras & underwear. I typically pack a few bras (with straps & without!) and I’ll overpack when it comes to underwear (you never know what’s gonna happen!!)
Next, you obviously need pajamas or something to sleep in. On vacation I usually like to throw on a T-Shirt and shorts and keep it super simple.

Now that we got the necessities out of the way, I have to say that when I’m on vacation I LIVE in my bathing suit and coverup! I won’t go on a beach vacation without a bathing suit or a cover up. I’ll link some of my favorites below!

Now we can’t forget about dresses! In Turks & Caicos I pretty much wore a dress to dinner every night. And if I wasn’t wearing a dress, you’d find me in my favorite white jeans and a cute top! Definitely be sure to check out my Turks & Caicos Travel Guide because I shared a ton of my outfits in that post! Here’s a peek at some of the dresses I’ll be bringing with me to Florida:

I’m most excited to wear this one and this one! I also ordered this skort which I can’t wait to style!

Like I said before, you’ll either see me in dresses or my white jeans. That being said – I need some cute tops to wear with my white jeans! Here are some of the one’s I’m packing!

I’ve already worn this one a few times and I LOVE it!

Ok now we can’t forget shoes!! I like to keep it simple when it comes to packing shoes. For Turks & Caicos, I brought these (which are currently on sale!!), these, and these! Since shoes can sometimes weigh down my suitcase, I try to pack only a few! Here’s what I plan on bringing to Florida:

I’ll probably wear this pair on the plane so I don’t have to pack them in my suitcase!

Here’s some other stuff I plan on packing:

Sunglasses: These ones are my current favorites!

And I also love these!

Bags: I’ll bring this bag for the beach! It’s SO good! And I’ll bring this clutch which I’ll use every night while I’m there!

Of course you can’t forget sunscreen, chargers (phone, computer, kindle), toiletries, makeup, jewelry, and I also like to bring my S’Well bottle to keep my drinks cold on the beach!! If you want a look at what I wore in Turks and Caicos, check out this post here!

Here’s a peek at some of the outfits I’m bringing with me:

Turks & Caicos Travel Guide

Hi everyone!! Happy Friday!! I’m finally getting a post up all about my trip in Turks & Caicos! I’m going to share details on where we stayed, ate, and what we did each day & night! I have to say that this has been my FAVORITE place in the Caribbean that we’ve been so far (I’ve been to St. Thomas, St. Maarten, the Bahamas, and Barbados). Let me tell you why!

Where We Stayed

^^A few pictures of the Resort & the area!
We stayed at the Ports of Call Resort in Providenciales, Turks and Caicos. We were very happy with our stay there! We booked our trip through JetBlue Getaways and we got a great deal. The hotel is a small family owned resort and it is super affordable compared to all of the other resorts on the island. The staff was super friendly and helpful. When we arrived, the owner of the resort was there to greet us and that was a nice added touch. They had a bar that opened around 1 every day. They had a happy hour and the drink prices were reduced by $1 (which isn’t that great of a deal, if you ask me). They also held events for the hotel guests (a trivia night to get to know the owners, etc.) They provided beach towels for you and they also have their own private section on the beach with beach chairs and umbrellas. There were also many different activities included that we could have done such as, kayaking, sailing, etc.

Here are some pros and cons of the resort:

Pros:

It is a family owned resort

It’s a small resort – we liked this because it was easy to navigate

It was a close walk to the beach (less than 5 minutes)

It was a close walk to many shops and restaurants

They had a very friendly staff

The room we stayed in was very comfortable – we had two queen beds and there was a sitting area.

Close walk to the Graceway Market

Cons:

Breakfast was included but we were definitely not a fan of it (we opted to walk to the market most mornings and get something from there)

The room where breakfast was served often had a strong smell that wasn’t pleasant.

There was no elevator (this could be tricky if you were staying on one of the upper floors) However, their staff would gladly bring your luggage up to your room for you!

Our TV in our hotel room didn’t work – this was fine because we weren’t in our room much anyway, but this may be an issue for someone else!

Overall, we would go back and stay at the Ports of Call Resort. We loved it and it was worth the price! I’d recommend staying here for sure if you’re looking for a great deal and a great stay!

Where We Ate

Sooo I’m not that into food but my mom is. I didn’t really care where we ate but she wanted to find a place that would have a healthy option for us. Like I said before, we’d often walk to the Graceway Market (across the street from the resort) to get certain items. However, one morning my mom got breakfast from there and she found an egg shell in her eggs (gross!) I’ll go into a little more detail on where we ate and what I’d recommend.

Dinner:

Monday: For our first night on the island we decided to eat at Via Veneto. This was a delicious Italian restaurant that was a 1 minute walk from our resort. It’s a great option because you can sit right outside OR you can sit inside. The service was great – our waitress was so friendly and accommodating. The food was delicious, too! We were able to make a reservation for this restaurant online which was a nice touch.

Tuesday: For our second night we tried to find a certain restaurant but we ended up eating at the Solana restaurant at the Ocean Club West resort. The menu was pretty limited but keep in mind, I’m a very picky eater! I ordered a burger and it was really good! My mom got some sort of fish meal probably.

Wednesday: On Wednesday we walked about a mile down the road (it’s very safe in Turks & Caicos, we didn’t mind walking alone at night!) to a restaurant called Hemingways. We made a reservation for this place and it was well worth it. It was RIGHT on the water – it was dark by the time we got there but it was still SO nice. I recommend going to this restaurant around sunset because it would be absolutely beautiful! We really enjoyed Hemingway’s.

Turks and Caicos Travel Guide

Thursday: On Thursday we ate at a restaurant called The Deck. This restaurant is literally right on the beach. It’s apart of the Seven Stars Resort. We LOVED this place and we were upset that we didn’t find it until later on in our trip! On Thursday night it started POURING rain on us and the waiters were SO good about it. They brought us towels and umbrellas so our meals wouldn’t be disturbed (see the picture of my mom above! Lol!) I do have to mention that we came to this restaurant for lunch two times during this trip. It’s the perfect place because you’re still on the beach but you’re able to enjoy your lunch. We highly recommend The Deck!

Friday: On our last night we decided to go back to Via Veneto because we loved it so much! We wanted to stay somewhere close to our resort because we knew we had a long day of traveling the next day. We had such a great experience our first night and the second time we went didn’t disappoint.

What We Did

This trip was meant to be a super relaxing vacation and it definitely was! Each morning my mom and I would wake up and we’d go for a 2-3 mile walk on the beach! This was so much fun and such a great way to start each day. We didn’t want to not exercise while we were away, so this was a great alternative to us! Who doesn’t love a walk on the beach??

Each day we’d go to the beach and we’d pretty much stay there all day. That was our goal, anyway. I cannot even describe to you how beautiful the beach and the water were in Turks and Caicos. I have told everyone this – it’s unlike any place I’ve ever been before (I’ve been to St. Thomas, St. Maarten, the Bahamas, Barbados). The water is a blue that is indescribable and for February, it was a great temperature!

^^Us at Jimmy’s Dive Bar!

Every night we went out to dinner (places listed above) and afterwards when we weren’t quite ready to call it a night, we’d venture over to Jimmy’s Dive Bar. This became one of our favorite places on the island. They were so friendly and it was never too crowded (which we liked about it). We just went there and were able to talk to some locals and each other without it being a crazy scene. It was a fun place and you could tell that people who vacation there often came back all the time. We will definitely be back, that’s for sure!
