Beauty Talk: Best Mascaras

Beauty Talk: Best Mascaras

Hi everyone! Happy Tuesday! I’ve recently gotten a TON of questions about what mascaras I use sooo I figured it was time to write a whole post on my favorites. I’m a mascara junkie – I loveee it and probably own WAY too many, but I’m OK with it! Today I’ll share what I’ve been using recently that I’ve been loving!

Beauty Talk: Best Mascaras

1. Stila Huge Extreme Lash: This has been my latest obsession and I absolutely love it. It’s great not only for lengthening but for providing volume as well. I also love using black mascara and I feel like this one is super black. It’s a very wet formula so it’s great for someone who loves to add a lot of layers (me!). The only downfall with this mascara is that it’s messy! Whenever I close the tube there’s ALWAYS mascara on the outside and it creates quite the mess.

2. Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara: I always feel SO funny when people ask me what mascara I’m wearing and I have to tell them it’s called “Better Than Sex.” But seriously, this stuff is GOLD. I love layering this mascara on top of the Stila Huge Extreme Lash. This one is also a pretty wet formula so it’s great for layering. You can let the Stila mascara dry a bit and then go ahead and apply this one on top after. Both mascaras are great on their own but I personally love the combination of the two!

3. Benefit They’re Real Lengthening Mascara: Ok guys this one has been a tried and true favorite for YEARS now. And I’m sure you’ve heard all about it from other people BUT let me tell you how I use this mascara. In my opinion, this one is great for lengthening and getting rid of any clumps that may have formed. I usually apply this one after the Too Faced one (I know, seems so high maintenance and it kind of is! lol). I don’t always apply this one but if I’m feeling fancy, I’ll do the extra step. I’ll also use this one on my bottom lashes. I feel like the previous two mascaras I mentioned are too thickening to use on my bottom lashes so I usually use this one! I love this mascara too because of the applicator. It has a ball on the end of it that helps reach those tiny lashes that you can’t typically reach with a normal applicator.

4. Urban Decay Subversion Lash Primer: I feel like lash primers are often overlooked and I wish people realized the beauty of them! I’ll be honest – I rarely use one but when I do, I use the Urban Decay Subversion Lash Primer. This is so great for lengthening your lashes BEFORE you even put mascara on. You apply this – it looks funny because it’s white – and then you apply your mascara right on top! It really works wonders and I highly recommend using this for someone who doesn’t have the longest lashes. It makes a world of a difference!

5. Tarte Mandater: Another great name for a mascara if you ask me! This one is another favorite that I’ve been loving recently. First of all, the packaging is SO cute. Also this mascara is another great one for lengthening! I’ll use this one the same way that I use the Benefit one. It’s great on it’s own if all you’re looking for is lengthening and a bit of volume, but I think it works best when layered on top of another mascara!

Ulta Haul

Ulta Haul

Hi everyone! In today’s post I’m sharing my latest Ulta haul with you! Enjoy!

So this weekend (Saturday) is my sister’s wedding! I cannot believe that it is already HERE! I feel like we have been waiting so long for this day (I can only imagine how SHE feels!) Anyways, being the Maid of Honor, I have some important jobs that day! One of those jobs includes making sure that everyone’s hair and makeup stays lookin’ good! So I decided to stop at Ulta and buy some new products that I’ve heard great things about.

Not only did I buy new products, I also put them to the test last night at dinner. I filmed a video using the products (some new, some old) and I tried to give my honest first impressions on the products. I will list all the products in the video description and below the video in this post! Take a look at my latest video here:

GET READY WITH ME!

Step One: Makeup Forever Primer
Love this stuff! I wanted to use a primer for this makeup look because I know I’ll be using one on the day of my sister’s wedding.
Step Two: Too Faced Born This Way Foundation My usual foundation. If you’ve watched my videos before, then you know I love this stuff. I’m in the color “Warm Beige.” I applied it with my Sigma F80 Flat Kabuki Brush that I recently purchased and already LOVE.
Step Three: It Cosmetics Bye Bye Redness this product is a favorite of mine. I use it for my acne scars and any flare ups that I have. I blended this with my Sigma brush as well!
Step Four: Too Faced Born This Way Naturally Radiant Concealer in the color “Light” – this was a new product for me! It is very liquidy and easy to blend. I used my beauty blender to blend it in! I think for the summer I need to go one shade darker than the one I used.
Step Five: Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit in the shade “Light to Medium.” For my under eyes, I use the yellow shade of this palette. Love it!
Step Six: It Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores Pressed Anti-Aging Powder This was a new product as well! I have always used my Benefit finishing powder, but I wanted to try a new one! I love It Cosmetics products because of their anti-aging benefits. So far I am happy with this powder! I used my It Cosmetics Travel Brushes to apply the powder!
Step Seven: Nars Laguna Bronzer the palette that I used in the video is unfortunately sold out! But I’ve linked the individual bronzer that I used in the palette for contouring! Love this stuff!
Step Eight: Tarte Park Ave Princess Bronzer I added some more bronzer after I contoured just to warm up my face. Tarte Park Ave Princess has been one of my current favorites!
Step Nine: Nars Blush Again, the palette I used was sold out, but I’ve linked a super similar one with GORGEOUS colors! I love all Nars’ blush!
Step Ten: Laura Geller Baked Highlighter in the color “Gilded Honey.” I have heard SO much about this highlighter it’s about time that I tried it for myself! And I love it!! It’s so pigmented and such a nice highlight color. I recommend this product!
Step Eleven: It Cosmetics Brow Power Universal Brow Pencil I was pleasantly surprised by this product! I wasn’t expecting to like it, but it actually was very easy to use and I like the color of it! I want to purchase this product in the full size!
Step Twelve: Nars Via Veneto Eyeliner If you’ve watched my videos before, you know I love this eyeliner. It’s my go-to eyeliner always.
Step Thirteen: Tarte Lip Kit Lip Liner I’m not a big user of lipliner but I figured now would be a good time to try it out! I really liked this one by taste!
Step Fourteen: Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick in the color “Dolce.” LOVE THIS. This was my first time using this and I really like it. I think this will be the color that I wear on my lips Saturday at my sister’s wedding!
Step Fifteen: First Aid Beauty Vitamin Hydrating Mist I am a big fan of hydrating mists and this one seems like it’s going to be great! The only bad thing that I have to say about it is that it does have a citrus-y scent. It is nice and refreshing though!

If you guys have ANY tips for being Maid of Honor or a Bridesmaid in a wedding PLEASE let me know in the comments!! I hope you all have an amazing weekend!

My Current Haircare Routine

Hi everyone! In todays post I’m sharing my current haircare routine with you! Enjoy!

Let me start out by telling you my hair type: I have VERY thick hair. It is usually very frizzy and very wavy. It takes FOREVER to dry because it is so thick. It holds a curl well and straightens pretty easily. Now let’s talk about what products and steps I use to get my hair under control!

Step 1 – Shampoo & Conditioner: I was recently sent Function of Beauty shampoo and conditioner. I had never heard of this brand before but boy am I glad that I have it now. This brand is amazing because you can completely customize your shampoo and conditioner based on what type of hair you have! All you have to do is pick your hair type (straight, wavy, curly, etc.), pick your hair structure (fine, medium, coarse), pick your scalp moisture (dry, normal, oily), you get to pick 5 hair goals that you have (deep condition, fix split ends, anti-frizz, etc.), you even get to pick the COLOR of your shampoo & conditioner, and the SCENT of your shampoo & conditioner. SO amazing. The scent I picked was sandalwood violet, and it smells AMAZING. I seriously recommend this shampoo & conditioner!

Here’s details on my shampoo & conditioner set:

Hair Type: Wavy

Hair Structure: Coarse

Scalp Moisture: normal

Hair Goals: hydrate, lengthen, anti-frizz, shine, and soothe scalp

Fragrance: sandalwood violet

Step 2 –  Leave In Conditioner: I am a huge fan of leave in conditioner. My favorite one ever is this one and I also love this one! I love them because they smell amazing and I truly do believe that they help my hair. If I don’t use a leave in conditioner, then my hair is more knotty & I feel like it breaks easier and that causes more split ends!

Step 3 – Smoothing Lotion: Like I said before, my hair is very wavy and frizzy, and to help combat that, I use this Moroccan oil smoothing lotion! OMG you guys this stuff smells amazing. I typically use one pump and smooth it throughout my wet hair. I’ll brush it through with my Wet Brush and it seems to do the trick!

Step 4 – Styling Treatment: I never thought about using a “styling treatment” before, but once I was introduced to the Living Proof Perfect Hair Day: 5-in1- Styling Treatment, I knew I needed it in my life. I typically use this product right before I blow dry my hair. It’s great because it helps speed up the drying time (thick hair = slow dry time) which is great. It also really does help reduce frizz and takes away some of the waviness of my hair. I really love this stuff. Oh and did I mention it smells amazing??

Step 5 – Dry Oil: My sister is the one who introduced me to this product. I use this one after I blow dry and straighten my hair. It helps take away any frizz thats left (clearly I’m very concerned with frizz). It really does make your hair have a nice shiny look & that’s what I love about this product.

So those are the products that I use on a daily basis. Now I’m going to talk about the products that I tend to use when I’m going to curl my hair. Once my hair is dry, I like to spray the Dry Bar triple sec 3-in-1 to add some texture to my hair. Once I do this, my hair holds a curl much better. After I’m done curling my hair, I like to use another texturizing spray, the Oribe dry texturizing spray. I use this lightly and it adds the perfect amount of texture to keep my curls together!

Now let’s talk about hairspray. I’m not a fan of sticky hair or crunchy hair (I don’t think many people are…) so I love to use a hairspray thats very light but will still hold the style. I recently got Living Proof’s Control hairspray and I love it. I use it after I curl my hair, after blow drying my hair, and after straightening my hair. I don’t even feel like there’s hairspray in my hair, but it keeps my hair in place all day which is amazing. I have two other favorite hairsprays – this one and this one. Both of those are lightweight hairsprays as well.

There ya have it! My current haircare routine! I hope you enjoyed this post!
