Best Purchases of 2017
IT’S ALMOST 2018!!! I’m so ready for a new year, I don’t know about you. I’m excited for the future and recently each year has been getting better (knock on wood) so I hope that pattern continues :-). Today’s post is going to be all about my best purchases of 2017. All of the things I couldn’t “live without” (I could definitely live without them, but I don’t want to) now. It was definitely hard to narrow it down to a few items – I have like 15 on the list – so brace yourselves for a long post. I hope you enjoy! Don’t hesitate to ask any questions about any item!
I absolutely fell in love with these boots when I first tried them on. I ordered them during the NSale and hadn’t actually tried them on until Fall. At first, they were hard to get on and I was a little skeptical, but don’t worry, it got better and now they are SO comfortable and they are my GO TO boots on the daily. They are suede so they have to be treated if you live in a snowy/rainy area like I do, but mine have been completely fine through the weather. I must say though, I was wearing them during a photo shoot a couple weekends ago and I completely WIPED OUT in the snow – but they’re not made to be snow boots sooo that’s kind of my fault. Whoops. They are pricey – but well worth the price in my opinion. They run TTS – I’m wearing mine in a size 8!
I have been wearing these booties NON STOP. If I’m not wearing the boots mentioned above, I’m most likely in these booties. They are SO comfortable and in my opinion, the heel height is perfect. They are pretty much sold out though, which sucks BUT keep looking because you may get lucky! They come in 2 other colors too, and I’m dying for the black ones! They are TTS and the best booties I own!
These were another NSale purchase and I have gotten SO MUCH use out of them. I loved them so much that I even bought them in the chestnut/cognac color. I’m OBESSED. Again, these sneakers were kind of hard to get on (and sometimes still kind of are lol) but once they’re on, you don’t want to take them off. I love these because I can wear them to work (as a teacher) and I can wear them out and about on a regular basis. They’re just so fun and I think the color is amazing. I have mine in a size 8 and I’m usually a size 8!
I had debated over purchasing these sandals for a long time and then I finally pulled the trigger and now I don’t think I can ever wear another sandal again (JK that’s me being dramatic). They are SO comfortable – I do not have a single complaint about them. I decided to get them in the color Makeup because so many people had the “vintage vachetta leather” and the black colors. I wanted to be “different” even though EVERY blogger and their mother has these sandals. I absolutely love the color I got because it goes with ANYTHING. If I had to get another pair (which let’s be honest, I probably will) I plan on getting them in the dark gray color.
Similar Pairs: Tory Burch Espadrilles, Tory Burch Espadrilles
Well what do you know? Another pair of seriously comfortable shoes. I have these espadrilles in a few colors – this bright pink color (which I can’t find anywhere!) and a tan color. I loved the pink ones to add a pop of color to my outfits (like the one above!) and then the tan ones were obviously more practical. They’re so comfortable and worth every penny. Again, they are TTS!
*This sweater sold out SO FAST but here is a similar one!!!
This sweater was another one of my NSale purchases and like I said above, it sold out SO FAST. I’m so happy I bought it when I did though because this is going to be one of my favorite sweaters for a long time. I love the lace up detail in the back and I love how it can be worn slightly off the shoulder too! I found this sweater which is really similar and I’m thinking about purchasing it too!
This coat is hands down the BEST coat I own. YES – it’s expensive. But it really does keep me warm when its FREEZING OUT (for example it was like 10 degrees yesterday) and I was honestly pretty warm considering the circumstances. I’m really not a fan of the cold so when I can find a coat thats cute AND keeps me warm, I consider that a win. My exact one is only available in a few sizes but the one I linked is super similar and the same color! I got mine in a size 4 and I honestly probably should’ve gotten a 2 but I’m over it.
This scarf is nothing short of amazing. I love it so much because it truly does the job – keeps you warm! I purchased the tan one in 2016 and went ahead and purchased another color in 2017 because I loved it that much. Unfortunately like every color is sold out right now, so if you’re thinking of getting it, keep your eyes peeled for when it goes on sale!
This dress is amazing. SO easy to wear and can be worn on many different occasions. I’d wear this to the beach over my bathing suit or it can be dressed up with a pair of cute heels. Or honestly, throw it on with a pair of sandals to go shopping or whatever. It’s such a good dress because of it’s versatility. I’m wearing mine in a size small and it’s currently on sale so I highly recommend getting it ASAP.
OK so I may have gotten these in 2016, I’m not totally sure, but I definitely got my moneys worth in 2017. These sunglasses quickly became my favorite pair. Yes, they are LARGE, but I swear they would look good on just about any face shape. I mean, I have pretty big cheeks and somehow these sunglasses look OK on me lol. I loved these so much that I also ended up buying this pair this past year! If you’re in the market for a nice pair of sunglasses, I highly recommend a pair by Karen Walker!
Ok so that was basically all the fashion-y stuff that I am so happy that I purchased this past year. NOW let’s get on to the makeup and skincare and all that fun stuff.
My most asked question of 2017 was probably about the mascara I use. I have no problem answering these questions because I love engaging with you guys but I figured I’d include all my favorite makeup products in this post, too :-).
So as many of you know, I have a bit of an obsession with mascara. Lately I have been wearing the three above. I typically put on the Urban Decay Perversion mascara first. And let me tell ya, I layer this stuff onnnn. After I put on multiple layers, I’ll then put on a few coats of the Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara. And to top it all off, I’ll “swipe” a bit of the YSL Babydoll Mascara on my lashes to get rid of any clumps! Best combo of mascaras that I’ve found so far BUT I must say they’re all wonderful on their own as well.
Skincare So I haven’t taken the best care of my skin in 2017 – and that is certainly a goal of mine in the year to come. But I do have a few products that I want to mention that I feel have been working for me!
Haircare As many of you know, I’ve been struggling with my hair lately and I don’t know WHAT is going on with it. I’ve learned to deal with it though and make the best of it. Thanks to certain products, I’ve been able to achieve a somewhat decent blowout and I’ll be forever grateful for that (again, being dramatic).
The t3 blow dryer and brush changed my hair’s life in a big way. Never before could I achieve a blow out on my own. I used to go to the blow dry bar and get my hair done all the time. Finally, I realized that MAYBE, just maybe, I’d be able to do it on my own. And turns out, I can. You can too – with this blow dryer and brush. I’m telling you – you will fall in loveeee! It is pricey, but for me it was well worth it instead of spending money on blow outs each week!
WOW ok I think I got everything! 2017 was a year of great purchases, thats for sure! I hope you enjoyed seeing what I loved this past year and what I thought was worth it’s money. My next post is going to be my highlights from 2017 – so I’ll be looking back on everything that I experienced this past year and sharing it with you!!
There ya have it! A look at my best purchases of 2017! I hope you enjoyed!
