Promise Me Sunshine

Promise Me Sunshine by Cara Bastone

Genre: Romance

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️+

Review: Dare I say this will likely be my favorite book of 2025?! It was SO good - I haven’t felt this strongly about a book in a long time. Lenny is currently grieving after the loss of her best friend, Lou, who lost her battle to cancer. Her life seems to be in shambles and she’s a bit of a mess and feels completely lost. Lenny doesn’t want to talk to her parents and she can’t bring herself stay in her apartment that she shared with Lou. The only thing Lenny can seem to do is different nannying jobs. Her latest job is for a busy, working mom, Reese. Her daughter, Ainsley, and Lenny get along immediately and Lenny quickly realizes how great of a job this is. That is, until Ainsley’s uncle - Miles - enters the picture. He seems to always be lurking around and he’s not very nice to anyone. Lenny learns to deal with Miles’ rude temperament and how he’s always around and she focuses on acting like everything in her life is together.

While Lenny is pretending she’s got her sh*t together, Miles is seeing right through that act. He’s very familiar with grief and is determined to help Lenny get her life back on track and live again. But, there’s a catch. Miles will help Lenny live again IF Lenny helps Miles fix his relationship with Reese and Ainsley. While Miles and Lenny tackle the list that Lou left behind for her, they also work on mending the relationship between Miles, Reese, and Ainsley.

This book was SO beautiful - yes, Lenny is a hot mess, but I freakin loved her. Miles is also incredible in his own ways. I really loved all of the characters in this story - it’s a story of love, heartbreak, friendship, grief, growth and SO much more.
